Painting by Numbers is a system in which the whole - Paint by Numbers Australia

Painting by Numbers is a system in which the whole canvas with the picture is divided into shapes, each marked with a number. The number in each cell corresponds to the number on the colors. For example if red color is marked with ‘1’ then all the columns marked ‘1’ on the canvas should be filled with red color. Just by following htese simple rules a beautiful painting can we made, without any previous experience in painting. You paint in each shape and ultimately the picture emerges as a finished painting.

The paint by numbers approach is often ridiculed as being simplistic, uncreative, and formulaic. I believe it's helpful in getting across the concept that a painting is built up through multiple shapes of color. The shapes on the canvas won’t make sense until the whole picture is painted and completed.

The paint by numbers is the next step in becoming a good painter. After completing a picture with guide the next act would be to imagine and trying complete the picture by yourself. Paint by numbers helps in developing patience. It also develops the understanding that small parts are important to get to the big part. It helps in learning to analyze a subject and observe different areas. It develops a sense of understanding that you need to avoid focusing on the final result and just focus on the small parts to reach the goal.

'Painting by numbers' may not be as difficult as one might imagine. It is said that Leonardo assigned his assistants to paint areas on a work that he had already sketched out and numbered. Hence paint by numbers is nothing new but just an old method which has been modified now.
